FOM '15 minutes' Campaign.

So I met the lovely Catherine Liem of Style Hostess the other morning at the LMFF program briefing. Catherine started her blog back in November, 2011 and since then has been posting anything that she finds 'inspiring, from editorials to cookbooks, street style candids and some personal photos.'  She is so sweet and I'm really glad I got to meet her the other morning! I'm sure we will cross paths again soon. So anyway, after finding her blog Style Hostess I came across her post on Friend of Mines latest '15 minutes' campaign. Teale and Teish teamed up with Alexandra Spencer again, who both styled and photographed the campaign, along with model Rachel Russel (who on the Friend of Mine blog says she's with Next Models, but I can't seem to find her!?),  and hair and make up artist Carelene K, who managed to put together a very soft and natural look with a touch of a smokey eye, which I love!! (PS woah that sentence had so many commas in it…. so many!) Anywayyyy, the model is absolutely stunning and not only that, but the girls mentioned they 'wanted to find a model who could play different roles. Someone who could be vulnerable and mysterious.' I have to say I think she was cast really well and I find her very captivating. It is always so interesting to find the inspiration behind the work of artists, photographers and anyone in the creative realm of work. For this particular campaign, the shots are 'in vain of the "15 mins" quote -made famous by Andy Warhoul.' The photographs are taken in 'documentary style' and aim to highlight the juxtaposition between the reality and glamour of 'life in the lime light.' As it is often believed or viewed upon in society, the life of the rich and famous (and especially models), is seen as 'glamorous, attractive, elegant' to name a few. However, beyond the beautiful hair, make-up and editorials is hours of hard work. To produce a campaign or editorial can take days or even weeks for the final results to be complete. Lots of early mornings and late nights are involved and it is often far from 'glamorous.' But when the jobs are all done and we get to see the final work, it is well worth it!! I respect all those in the fashion business and am so proud of both my sisters, friends and Teale for being a small percentage of the many in the industry who can claim they 'have made it.' Anyway, thanks to Catherine Liem, I came across these shots as I hadn't yet (such a small world in the end!) I just wanted to repost them as I love Alex Spencer's photography and styling! Such a cool cat. Not only is she possibly the hottest woman on the planet, but she is damn talented too!! Enjoy! (Wow… sometimes I really write a lot…. I don't even realise until I have finished, then look and think- how did that happen!? Anyway, hopefully I'm interesting :P…)  xx

Life in the Colour Yellow, Kaleidoscope. National Geographic.

'Yellow evokes the shine of the sun and is found throughout nature and the man-made world as a color that commands attention. This highly visible hue is found on everything from bumblebees to school buses, traffic signs to highlighters.'
While looking up photos from National Geographic photographer Jason Edwards, I stumbled across a series of galleries called 'Life in Colour,' on the National Geographic website. There are albums dedicated to yellow, green, white, red, silver, kaleidoscope and more (click on each colour to be taken to the album). They are truly beautiful and if you are a lover of photography I highly recommend checking them out. I honestly don't think I can describe how incredible these photos really are. The creativity and talent is so inspiring! I have now made a plan to take photos of anything and everything of one colour each day for a week, and create folders which I will turn into artwork. It just makes you look at the world differently and appreciate things that you usually wouldn't. It never ceases to amaze me how powerful cameras are these days. Technology has grown and evolved so much in the past decade, it bemuses me to think where it will be in 10 years time.

It is hard to pick a favourite as they are all equally beautiful, but there is something about the shipping containers, photographed in the Malay Peninsula, Southeast Asia, that I absolutely love. It feels like a Willy Wonker world, somewhere far away. It really is amazing how great photographers capture the beauty in the most unassuming of places. I would definitely have that printed and enlarged placed somewhere in my home. Anyway, go check out the albums! Until next time… xx 

LMFF behind the scenes.

So I am so lucky to be apart of L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival this year. I have been chosen as a devotee along with a few others whom I will announce shortly. I met up with the others this week and we got to hang out and play with an exciting project which I will show you guys when it comes out! At the moment it is a little hush hush. Anyway, I feel very blessed to be apart of the festival this year and it's all thanks to the amazing team at AMPR who helped introduce me to the gorgeous LMFF team. So on Thursday 24th January, hair and make-up trials were underway for the festival which will run from March 18-24th. I managed to get my hands on some of Anthony Licuria's striking and beautiful behind the scenes photos which I am going to share with you below. Not only that, but I was able to get some information on what the hair and make-up trends for this years festival will be. Caterina Dibiase, L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival Hair Director, said this year "we are seeing very definite and over exaggerate parts as a trend. Other looks for the season include hair with soft and feminine texture." She mentioned that they will move away "from the crisp beach look" and that "vibrant reds, short soft cuts and flashes (or highlights) of strong colour in dark hair" will be a trend that we will see on the runway. Not only that, but "one of the runways at 2013 L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival will be dedicated to the colour red." WOW! I am already so excited to see it and I am having thoughts about dying my hair red. Thoughts? Seriously! I also found out from Rae Morris, L'Oréal Paris and LMFF Make-up Director, that "this year its all about opulent glamour- think beauty inspired by precious jewels. Beauty that indulges the senses and looks expensive!" I can already picture the stunning models looking like creatures from another planet. Absolutely beautiful creatures that is! Rae mentioned that "eyes are a big focus and we are seeing a lot of strong, statement looks." She tells us that "it is important to be bold. You can use 3 to 4 shades of colour with the main shade complimenting the colour of your eye," and also to "be sure to use your lighter shades first and work into the eye with the darker." With information like this we are the first to know what the trends for 2013 are in general. Both Rae and Caterina have been in the business for years and 'hair and make-up artists' around Australia look to them for guidance and knowledge on what looks will play a role in the Australian fashion scene each season. I will be sure to make note of this key info and who knows, next time you see me I may have splashes of red and bold, statement eye make-up to match :) Can't wait to see their work on the runway! Alice McCall, Anouk bodysuit.

So this amazing new bodysuit is also by my talented sis Alice McCall. Click HERE to be directed to her online store to purchase. Limited sizes left! At only $229 I figure its a bargain. As you can see in the piccies, it is a peplum style, however, you have the option of tucking it in, or leaving it out ('obviously' I know, just saying ;)! …  It would be perfect with jeans or a skirt, or some cute shorts! I've decided to pair it with my trusty Ksubi denim shorts that I've had for 5 years (maybe even more) now. Then I also wore a cute pink vintage belt with aeroplane studs (love a bit of quirky), and my hot pink limited edition Alice McCall boots. I figure its all about bright colours and prints this summer, so why not incorporate both styles into the outfit?? I feel like this is the kind of outfit that could easily be worn day or night with a slight couple of changes. The photos below would be more of a night time one for me and to make it more night appropriate (for when it gets colder) I have my black Helmut Lang blazer (another winner that is a wardrobe staple!!). Then if I was going to wear this during the day, I'd change the shoes to some sandals or cute Tkee's, which are amazing flip flops/ thongs made in Brazil, in incredible colours and super comfy (check out the website- then come to Husk to try and buy! Then I'm wearing a couple of vintage beaded necklaces (one which I wore as a bracelet) from my grandmas collection, my hot pink Sassari bracelet from Husk, a Mania Mania immortals ring, a Sue Sensi silver cross ring and Nicholas X Morley cross bone ring. Anyway, love that the days are getting warmer now ( I write this as its cold and raining outside right now, when I took the photos it was beautiful and warm. Bloody Melbourne).. Hope u likieeee :) xx

Street Styling.

Gotta love people observing, especially around Fashion Week! People are 'dressed to impress' as silly as that sounds! I know for lots of people, half the fun of fashion week is getting ready and dressed up so you can look good for all the other guests. I love it! I wish people would dress like this all the time.  Yes of course the designers and models on the runway in the latest creations are the main event, but you'll notice lots of people loitering around the front and inside waiting to get their photograph taken. I got some of the photos below from The Sartorialist and Fashion Chalet which I love. The colours are amazing and so vibrant! The crazy, amazing heels that I would love to own in my wardrobe, especially the ones in photos 13, 15 and 24. Honestly, what I would do! Not to sure about the ones in photo number Four, I would be freaking out that I was going to fall backwards. The skirt in photo number 6 I would kill for and Anna Dello Russo in photo 7 looks ridic!! In a good way. Loving the two girls in photo 19. Probably a favourite of mine. They have a grunge, street, casual look about them with a rock influence. The girl on the left wearing the 3/4 sleeve bright green KENZO jumper (which I need) and denim shorts with the other girl in the photo wearing denim shorts, a green shirt with tiny pink flowers and rolled up sleeves, complete with a green clutch look amaze. Love how they have both worn a statement necklace which take their looks from very street to street-chic. Lastly if anyone knows who designs the dress in photo number 25 I really want to see the whole thing. It looks cool, apart from the arm detailing. Not to sure about it. Anyway, I added the last photo in cause I am always a sucker for black and gold. Can't go wrong! Until next time xx
